Coding is Cool!

With the support of the Abbot Kinney Festival Association, The Children's Lifesaving Foundation began a new initiative that teaches kids to code. With coding skills, students can make their own computer apps, games and websites! They're out to prove that coding and computer science can be both fun AND cool.

#CodingIsCool is presented through CLF’s Care through College Educational Program that has been tutoring children since 2004. Their mission is to make certain that the participants succeed academically and that each child becomes ready for college, insuring a secure and successful future. (Over 45 college scholarships have been awarded to date!)

There are many volunteer opportunities with CLF! Visit their website for more information.

A little peek behind the scenes..Here's where all the magic happens and a few of the magicians. That's Elisa, Kim and Donna inside "The Pod", the small but mighty Festival office space. And that's Nancy rockin' another stylin' outfit while she distributes festival cards and programs and all sorts of goodies to the local merchants. More photos coming...

Drive Dirty!

Go Dirty for the Drought!

Los Angeles Waterkeeper will be at the Abbot Kinney Festival taking pledges and giving out Dirty Car Pledge car stickers! California is having the worst drought in recorded history. Do your part to conserve water by pledging to not wash your car for 60 days. Pick up your sticker at the Festival and display it proudly on your car window to help spread the word about prioritizing water conservation for LA! You can also take the Dirty Car Pledge on the LA Waterkeeper website and they will mail you a sticker.

So, no, you're not too lazy / busy / cheap / aloof to keep your car clean... you're helping save water! Share it! #DirtyCarPledge
