I. GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR THE FESTIVAL

The 2008 Abbot Kinney Festival (hereinafter “Festival”) is a Venice tradition where all walks of life spend the day on Abbot Kinney Blvd. enjoying the local Art, Food, and Music of our vibrant and diverse community. The Festival is open to the public and free to all visitors.

Every vendor must submit an application, and vendor participation in the Festival is contingent on acceptance of the application according to the rules and regulations set out below. Space is limited and subject to jury approval Applications submitted after August 25, 2008 will be subject to a late fee.

Festival hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Vendor booth set up begins at 7:00 a.m .and all vehicles must be off the Blvd by 9 am . Vehicles not removed from Abbot Kinney Boulevard by 9 a.m. will be subject to ticketing and towing. Teardown begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. and must be completed no later than 7:30 p.m.

**Please note vehicles will not be allowed on the street until after Los Angeles Police Department has deemed it safe. This process could take anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours.**

PARKING IS NOT PROVIDED. THERE ARE SOME PUBLIC LOTS FOR USE ON A “FIRST COME - FIRST SERVE” BASIS.

II. APPLICATION PROCESS

To participate in the Festival, vendors must complete and submit the attached application along with required fees. Participation in previous festivals does not guarantee acceptance.

JURY SELECTION: All applications are subject to jury approval. Only applications for Arts & Crafts vendors, Abbot Kinney businesses, and non-profit organizations will be considered prior to September 15th. Other categories may be considered after September 15th on a space available basis. Application selection is under the sole discretion of the jury and is not subject to review or appeal. The Jury reserves the right to reject any application and to demand the release of any rented space at any time before or during the Festival for failure to conform to these Rules & Regulations.

ARTS & CRAFTS VENDORS: Preference will be given to vendors that manufacture goods that are unique, original, well-made, and hand-crafted. Large corporate or mass-produced goods will not be given preference. Booths should not be overly commercial in appearance.

501©3 NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS: Applicants may pay a discounted rate if they provide proof of 501©3 non-profit status as defined by IRS regulations. For IRS rules, please read:

Non-profit applicants that are selling goods must pay a higher discounted rate. See the “PAYMENT” section for details.

Non-profit organizations are subject to the jury process.

WITHDRAWL: If the applicant withdraws on or after September 15, 2008, a processing fee of 50% will be assessed. If withdrawal is made 48 hours or less prior to the Festival, all fees will be forfeited. See “PENALTIES” for further explanation.

III. BOOTH MAINTANENCE

All vendors must sell their goods or represent their organization within a rented Booth.

SET UP & TEAR DOWN: Booth set up begins promptly at 7:00 a.m., and teardown must be completed by 7:30 p.m. Vendors will not be permitted to begin setting up their booths prior to 7:00a.m.

Inability to follow these rules may result in being barred from participating in future festivals. A complete list of Festival day vendor instructions will be e-mailed to you in late August, pending LAPD approval.


BOOTH SIZE & SPACE RESTRICTIONS: All booth spaces are rented as a single unit consisting of 10’ X 10’ canopy tent.. No partial booths will be sold, but Vendors can share a single booth space provided that each Vendor provides their own signed and dated application with all the required information and have all work approved by the jury. Vendors are not allowed to share a booth without applications from both vendors. Booth inventory must be contained in booth space and cannot infringe on neighboring booth spaces or walkways. Multiple booths side by side may be purchased.

No utilities are available and none will be provided. All Vendors must supply their own display tables, counters, racks and seating. Fire Inspector approved canopies will be provided. NO VENDOR OWNED CANOPIES WILL BE ALLOWED . ALL CANOPIES MUST BE PROVIDED BY ABBOT KINNEY FESTIVAL ACCORDING TO THE LOS ANGELES FIRE DEPARTMENT.

All Vendors must clean and maintain their areas all day and leave the space clean.

No burning of any materials ,including candles and incense will be permitted due to Los Angeles city and county fire regulations.

Vendor sites are subject to Los Angeles Fire Department inspection and if fire codes are not met vendors will be subject to removal from the festival and/or citations.

Vendors may not move to another location without permission from the Festival officials in charge of booth assignments.

Vendors are responsible for their own money, taxes, and licenses.

GENERAL LIABILITY: All Participants and Vendors are responsible for their own display; the City of Los Angeles , the Abbot Kinney District Association, and the Abbot Kinney Festival Committee shall not be held liable for any damage or loss to property belonging to Participants or Vendors. See “LIABILITY WAIVER” section for further explanation.

IV. CODE OF CONDUCT

ALL PARTICIPANTS: The Festival Committee expects all participants, whether they be Vendors, musicians, or members of the public, to conduct themselves in a peaceable and lawful manner. Any person found acting in an unreasonable, abusive, violent, belligerent, loud, or offensive manner will be in violation of these Rules and Regulations and asked to leave the Festival. If a violating person refuses to leave, he or she may be removed by the Los Angeles Police Department officers and be subject to possible arrest and detention. All individuals will be expected to obey all laws, Municipal, State and Federal.

VENDORS: Vendors can only sell within their designated space.

All signs / merchandise must be kept INSIDE booths. No roving is allowed.

ALCOHOL: Alcohol may be sold only in businesses that have legal permits to sell alcohol. The sale and consumption of alcohol must conform to all State and Municipal laws. Vendors are especially admonished from keeping alcohol within their booths. Vendors in violation of the law may be subject to penalties, including booth closure, forfeiture of fees, and possible arrest.

V. PENALTIES

BOOTH CLOSURE AND SHUT DOWN: Vendor booths may be shut down for violations of these Rules and Regulations, any violation of State or Municipal law, or for just cause within the Festival Committee’s discretion. Vendors may be shut down and their booths closed by any official department or government agency, such as the Los Angeles Fire Department or Los Angeles Police Department.

FORFEITURE OF FEES: If a Vendor is shut down, or if a vendor withdraws less than 48 hours before the start of the Festival, all fees will be forfeited.

FUTURE EXCLUSION: The Festival Committee has the right to bar any vendor from participation in future Festivals. Violation of any of these Rules and Regulations may result in being barred from participating in future festivals.

VI. LIABILITY

VII. PAYMENT

Payment may be made via Master card, Visa, American Express or check debit card via online registration.
